Finance Ministry transfers $2 million to National Electoral Commission

HARGEISA – Somaliland’s Finance Ministry transferred $2 million to the National Electoral Commission on Saturday, as part of the central government’s pledge to cover the costs for November’s Presidential Election.

“Our government remains committed to fulfilling our promise to fund November’s Presidential Election. We plan to hand over the remaining $2 million in August,” Adan said.

NEC Chairman, Abdiqadir Iman Warsame, thanked the Finance Ministry for sticking to their promise.

“We thank the Finance Ministry for providing the first set of funds for the election and look forward to receiving the remaining funds in August,” said Warsame.

Somaliland’s Presidential Election is scheduled for Monday, November 13th, 2017.
