HARGEISA – Somaliland’s Council of Ministers on Thursday overwhelmingly approved Somaliland’s five-year National Development Plan for 2017-2021 during the council’s weekly cabinet meeting.
The National Development Plan is based on five pillars and has three main goals, centered around combating poverty, the environment, and human rights.
Below, is a brief explanation of the three main goals for Somaliland’s National Development Plan for 2017-2021.
Somaliland National Development Plan (2017 – 2021)
1. Reduce poverty through increased economic opportunities and coordinated investment in youth, services, production, and infrastructure.
2.Increase resilience against the effects of climate change through improved management of the environment, strategic water management, food security and diversification of the economy.
3. Maintain the human rights of every citizen through good governance, equal access to social services and economic inclusion.
