The MOUs will strengthen health cooperation between Somaliland and Ethiopia.

ADDIS ABABA – The Government of the Republic of Somaliland has signed a series of memorandums of understandings (MOUs) with the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia to strengthen cooperation in the health sector.

Somaliland’s Health Minister, Saleban Ahmed Isse ‘Haglatoosiye’, officials from Somaliland’s Health Ministry and Somaliland’s representative to Ethiopia, Ali Salan Jirdeh, signed the agreements with Ethiopia’s Health Minister, Yefru Berahan Mitke, last week.

The MOUs call for increased cooperation on combating serious cross-border threats to health, training for Somalilander health professionals, and strengthening health and medical education in Somaliland.

Both sides will establish committees tasked with implementing the agreements in the near future.
