HARGEISA – Somaliland’s National Planning Minister, Mohamed Ibrahim Adan Qabo, denied that he is planning to resign from his post, in an interview with Eryal TV on Tuesday (Oct 24).
“I am a longtime member of the party, and everyone is aware of my efforts in building the party. In addition to that, I have also turned my private home into a Kulmiye campaign office. Leaving Kulmiye is not an option,” Qabo said.
“Kulmiye’s leader and the future President of Somaliland, Musa Bihi Abdi, and I, are close friends. I’m confident that Musa Bihi Abdi will be able to continue and build on President Silanyo’s legacy,” Qabo said.
Qabo also accused Somaliland’s main opposition party, Waddani, of orchestrating the rumours and labelled it as ‘cheap Waddani propaganda’.
Majority of the members of Qabo’s sub-clan, the Arap, said to be voting for Waddani on November 13th. Earlier this month, several ex-government officials from the Arap sub-clan announced their resignation from Kulmiye and joined Waddani.
According to unconfirmed sources, Qabo has privately raised the possibility of resigning with his colleagues within the past couple of days, due to pressure from his sub-clan.
