BORAMA – Waddani presidential candidate, Abdirahman Mohamed Abdullahi Irro, accused Kulmiye candidate, Musa Bihi Abdi of being liable for the killing of over two thousands young men during the 1994 civil war, in a campaign speech in Borama last week (Oct 26).
Irro also accused Abdi of ‘killing’ many SNM freedom fighters, attempting to assassinate incumbent Somaliland President, Ahmed Mohamed Mohamoud Silanyo, and threatening former Somaliland Presidents, during his speech.
Irro’s accusations are a response to Abdi’s speech in Burao on October 25th, accusing Irro of being pro-Somalia and receiving support from the Government of Somalia.
“Did you forget, that you are still being accused of, and are historically known for, the killings of many SNM freedom fighters?,” Irro asked Abdi, in front of Waddani supporters in Borama.
“Did you forget that you denied to choose peace and opted for civil war instead in 1994?,” Irro again questioned Abdi.
“Did you forget that over two thousand boys that died in that war, are buried in cemeteries across Burao?,” Irro said.
“Did you forget that you stormed into President Egal’s office and that the bullet holes outside the Presidential Palace, were the bullets you fired at President Abdirahman Tuur?,” Irro said.
Irro’s comments on October 26th, were met with negative reception from the overwhelming majority of the public, since many consider the 1994 civil war as a ‘dark era’ in Somaliland’s history and that many people have moved on from the events that have taken place.
