Labour and Social Affairs Minister resigns from government and ruling party

HARGEISA – Somaliland’s Minister for Labour and Social Affairs, Mohamed Abdullahi Obsiye, announced his resignation from President Silanyo’s government, and his rescinded his membership of the ruling party, Kulmiye, in a press conference on November 5th.

Obsiye, who was also a member of Kulmiye’s national campaign committee, told reporters that he was resigning after becoming disillusioned with the party’s campaign strategy.

Obsiye also said that he has also decided to resign after coming to the conclusion that his constituents in Awdal region will not be voting for the ruling Kulmiye party on November 13th.

According to sources close to The National, and rumours swirling within political circles, the vote in the western region of Awdal is expected to be divided between Kulmiye candidate, Musa Bihi Abdi, and Waddani candidate, Abdirahman Mohamed Abdullahi Irro.
