HARGEISA – Waddani presidential candidate, Abdirahman Mohamed Abdullahi Irro, has officially conceded defeat in the 2017 Somaliland presidential elections, and has called on citizens of Somaliland to unite together.
Irro said in a press conference two hours ago that he has decided to concede defeat for the sake of the country, and not because he feels that Kulmiye candidate, Musa Bihi Abdi, is the rightful winner.
“I’ve decide to concede defeat for the sake of maintaining unity and peace in Somaliland – not because Musa and Kulmiye won,” Irro said.
“I will not destroy this country for my own personal ambitions, nor will I allow my people to drop blood for me – but i am still fearful that Kulmiye will destroy this country under their rule,” Irro added.
“I call on all Somalilanders to unite, and to accept the harsh reality that we have been dealt with,” Irro said.
Irro announced last night that he has decided to reject the election results, and claimed that there were numerous instances of electoral fraud.
UCID candidate, Faisal Ali Waraabe, also announced on Tuesday that he has conceded defeat and congratulated Musa Bihi Abdi on his victory.
