HARGEISA – The Government of the Republic of Somaliland has sent 31 Ethiopian refugees back home on Wednesday (Oct 24), according to the Chairman of Somaliland’s Refugee & Resettlement Agency.
Abdikarim Mohamed Hinif, Chairman of Somaliland’s RRA, announced in a press conference this week that the 31 refugees were the second batch of Ethiopian refugees that’ve been sent back home. Hinif said the first batch of refugees returned to Ethiopia on October 17th.
Hinif stressed in the press conference that the refugees were sent home via Ethiopian Airlines on their own will and were not deported.
Hinif also stated that more Ethiopian refugees are getting ready to return to their country and that the process is expected to continue.
