HARGEISA – A group of youth attacked Kulmiye’s party office in eastern Hargeisa earlier this week, forcing the party to temporarily shut down the regional office.
The suspects, who have yet to be identified, reportedly hurled rocks and other items outside the party office, shattering several windows.
Many Senior Kulmiye Party officials have condemned the attack and have accused Somaliland’s main opposition party, Waddani, of being behind the attack.
Majority of Eastern Hargeisa’s residents are said to be Waddani supporters. Numerous senior Waddani officials have held separate press conferences in response denying the party’s involvement in the attack.
Somaliland’s National Police Force is currently conducting an investigation into the incident.
