HARGEISA – One of the longest-serving officials of Somaliland’s ruling political party, Kulmiye, announced his resignation from the party in a press conference in Hargeisa last Saturday (Oct 7).
Mohamud Abdullahi Harbi, known as ‘Harbi’ to many, who played an instrumental role in Kulmiye’s campaign to power from 2003-2010, told reporters in press conference that he has decided to resign after feeling abandoned by the ruling political party and the current government.
Harbi served as the director of the President’s Archives Office for most of President Ahmed Mohamoud Silanyo’s term.
In May 2016, he was promoted to the position of Deputy Chairman of Somaliland’s National Civil Service Commission.
Harbi was relieved of his duties by President Silanyo in a presidential decree, earlier this year, in April 2017.
